US Army Phishing scam
Apr. 12th, 2008 08:21 pmNow that
amg04 is close to graduating from college, she's been getting e-mail on her college account (starting April 6th) from recruiting@usarmycareers.com. It's a form e-mail that thanks her for her interest in a career with the US Army and invites her to call a toll free number so that they could get more information. It ends with the disclaimer that the US Army doesn't send out unsolicited e-mail and this e-mail was authorized by the US Army Command at Ft. Knox. Now, I know for a fact that she's not interested and never contacted the Army about a career. Not only that, but a search of official US Army career recruiting web addresses doesn't turn this one up. I looked up the WhoIs record for the domain usarmycareers.com and it's registered to: Trend Integration, LLC. Other web addresses that Google turns up as official US Army domains for recruiting purposes, usmilitary.com and armedforcescareers.com, are registered to National Direct Lead Systems. She's set up a spam filter for it.
