I had the pleasure of cuddling with [livejournal.com profile] dergeis and watching, "How To Train Your Dragon" tonight, after he got our speakers working, that is. I enjoyed the movie for the most part. I found it most jarring that most of the adult Vikings in it had Scottish accents. Was that supposed to be funny? Is there some in-joke I missed about this? Of course the youthful Vikings had American accents. I did enjoy how the dragons were more like cats in behavior. The person voicing the main character, Hiccup, seemed to be doing a young Christian Slater impersonation, or maybe that's just the way he talks. On the whole, though, it was an entertaining movie.

For what it's worth, there was a viking presence in the Outer Hebrides for a while there. So perhaps the writers were thinking of that.

Maybe.

I need to add that one to my Netflix list for the boys. I am sure Gavin would enjoy it more than Alex because Gavin follows story lines. Alex surprises me by how much he picks up from movies, but I am not sure if he follows the stages of a story.

Glad you enjoyed the movie!!

It's a good one for their ages. And Gavin will definitely get more out of it than Alex, but I think they'll both enjoy it.
