Soupy goodness
Oct. 19th, 2008 02:54 pmA while ago I bought some turkey smoked sausage and then bought a bag of Hurst's Chicken flavored 15 Bean Soup and saw the recipe on the back called for smoked sausage and chicken. Well, yesterday I went to Costco and bought a bunch of boneless, skinless chicken breasts and then put the beans on to soak over night. Today, I made the recipe on the back of the package with some changes. First, instead of using water to cook the beans I used fat free, low sodium chicken broth. I cooked the chicken breast and vegetables and added them to the soup along with the sausage and I did not add the seasoning packet. In fact, with the salt in the broth and the sausage, I did not need to add any salt. When it was all done, I just added some fresh ground pepper.
