dergeis discovered that when I ran the kitchen faucet and he was down in the basement underneath, he could hear water flowing down the walls. This meant that the faucet was leaking seriously. I knew it was leaking a little since I would have some water coming out around the bottom of the faucet assembly which would flow back into the sink. Apparently, the small piping in the faucet assembly connecting to the water line hoses had corroded pretty severely. On Sunday, I went to Lowe's Home Improvement and perused the faucet selection. After cruising by some of the
pricier faucets (WTF, it better wash my dishes at that price!), I settled on
one that fit my needs and my pocket book. (It was actually $4.00 less than the price on the website.) In fact, it works much better than the old faucet. The hand sprayer works better than the other one, too. And it only took
dergeis a couple of hours and me one extra trip back to Lowes to get longer water line hoses to get the thing installed. Good thing since we have to shut off the entire house water service because virtually none of the individual line valves in the house work properly.
Then, on Monday,
amg04 called me at work to tell me that the first floor toilet water won't stop flowing. I instructed her to turn off the water line valve underneath the toilet (yes, this one actually works, but I suspect it's newer.) and use the second floor toilet. (Thank goodness for more than one bathroom.) We investigate and find that the valve assembly in the tank needs to be replaced. One more trip to Lowes and $7.00 and about 15 minutes of work later and it's fixed. I hope that is the extent of our plumbing projects for now.
