Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] mina_kat9!

[livejournal.com profile] amg04's car is up for inspection so I'm footing the bill for that including an oil change. Hopefully the car won't require too much work to pass inspection. Because we followed her to the shop, I already know that she needs a brake light on the back passenger side. Then we went to breakfast at Bob Evans.

After breakfast, the three of us went cell phone shopping. [livejournal.com profile] amg04 got a nice phone that you can flip sideways and the keypad becomes a small qwerty keyboard. She does a lot of text messaging so this is a good choice for her and it was probably the least expensive phone with that feature. I didn't particularly like the "free" phone (The deal was get [livejournal.com profile] amg04's model of phone and it came with up to three "select" phones for free.) so I went for something a little more expensive. I get a new phone every two years so I figure I should really like what I get. The Klingon was there and was fine with the "free" phone so that's what he got.

The Klingon decided that he wants a bigger mouse for his laptop. He has a little travel mouse (besides the touchpad) and it's too small for his hands --his fingers are all one inch longer than mine. I had been considering a cordless mouse and keyboard set for my Vista machine and said he could have my corded USB mouse if I got a cordless deskset. After picking up [livejournal.com profile] amg04's newly inspected car and depositing it in the parking lot where she works and dropping off the keys, we headed over to Best Buy. I saw a Microsoft Wireless Optical Deskset that that I really liked at a discounted price but they didn't have any in stock. However the sales person gave me the number of a Best Buy not too far away that had some in stock. I decided to look at Circuit City which was much closer and didn't find anything so we headed over to the other Best Buy. While en route, I called to verify that they did, indeed, have the item in stock. I had the SKU from the other store and the person there said that they did but not at the discounted price that I saw at the local Best Buy and asked us to turn around and have the local Best Buy call them because their computer was also showing a third even more discounted price at the location we just left. We did. The Klingon wasn't too happy about this but I really wanted this deskset. I got back and even had the same sales person "A" I dealt with before call the other store. There was a conversation and I was told that if I went to the other store I could get the deskset at the third, more discounted price. So we did. We arrive at this store and were told after some talk between the sales person "B" and manager "C" that we would have to buy the deskset at the more expensive price and then take it to the first store and have them refund the difference. I asked them to please call the first store and give me the name of a manager there that would approve the refund in case there was any trouble. They did. The Klingon, none to happy at this runaround, and I drove back with the purchased deskset to the original store and I did, indeed get the difference refunded after saying that the manager "D" at this store had talked to the second store sales person "B" and approved this. I now have a very nice wireless optical keyboard and mouse that I got a very good deal on. And the discount did not exceed the cost of the gas spent on this venture. Unfortunately, the Klingon wanted an optical USB corded mouse and the one I replaced had a trackball. Oh well.

Another one from [livejournal.com profile] bronx_baroness --I really don't try to score the same thing, honest! I'm also sure this isn't always true:
Your Brain is Blue

Of all the brain types, yours is the most mellow.
You tend to be in a meditative state most of the time. You don't try to think away your troubles.
Your thoughts are realistic, fresh, and honest. You truly see things as how they are.

You tend to spend a lot of time thinking about your friends, your surroundings, and your life.
