Because I said I would
Jan. 19th, 2008 04:31 pmThe Klingon and I were on our way to Westmoreland Mall. He was going to the PGCA gun show and I was going to do some shopping since this mall has stores that our local mall, Monroeville Mall doesn't. In the Klingon's car, the radio was tuned to the local classical station, WQED FM and a piece which sounded familiar to me was playing. I asked, "Is that Copland?"
To which the Klingon replied, "I don't think so, it's not as good as Copland. It sounds like Copland but Copland sounds. . . thicker."
"Thicker?"
"Yeah, Copland has more going on. This doesn't sound as good. It sounds. . . thinner."
The piece ended and the radio announcer told us. "That was Aaron Copland's. . ."
"Thicker, huh?", I said.
"You're going to post this on Livejournal aren't you?" asked the Klingon.
"Maybe. . ."
"No, you're going to, I know you."
"Well, yeah."
Knowing me is why I'm still very much in love with him. (I hope that my understanding what he meant by "thicker" is why he still sticks it out with me.) As I noted on
charlietudor's lj, we met very close to the end of January 1985 and were essentially together by mid-February. We're coming up on 23 years. Yes, we're old, but we're old together.
