Friday: We went to my in-laws because my brother-in-law and his wife were coming into town on their way to pick up their daugher, Bekah, who was at The Flute Institute in Ohio at Oberlin College. We may see them on Monday after they go to see the Women's Open practice rounds at the Oakmont Country Club.

Saturday, my daughter, her boyfriend and I went to the Strip District to do some shopping. We ate sushi made by Andy at Andy's Sushi Bar and then went to Penzey's so that I could buy cumin. We then went to Pennsylvania Macaroni Company aka Penn Mac for walnuts ($4.49/lb), pecans ($7.49/lb), raisins and cheese. We got fresh mozzarella balls, pepperoni cheese, smoked gouda and Cabot light cheddar. Then we went to Mon Aimee Chocolates where I got a selection of E. Guittard dark chocolate bars each made with a different regional cacao and some dark chocolate covered orange peel and a couple of Vosge dark chocolate bar selections. Then, finally, to the Pittsburgh Popcorn Company for some specially made popcorn selections, sweet and salty (their kettle corn) and chocolate and peanut butter popcorn (Reese's peanut butter cup).

After that, I putzed around at home and then we went over to [livejournal.com profile] moonbeamjedi's place for a pool party. It was fun. I swam for a little bit and socialized.

Today the four of us ate breakfast at Denny's but [livejournal.com profile] amg04 wasn't feeling well so she and her boyfriend went home while [livejournal.com profile] dergeis and I headed to Twin Lakes park in Westmoreland County for the Westmoreland Arts and Heritage Festival. We arrived an hour earlier than expected to meet my dad, his wife and my brother and his wife so we walked around the various vendors. We did happen to run into the storyteller, Temujin, who is an old friend and we talked with him for a short amount of time before continuing to wander around. Once the rest of my family arrived, we walked around the vendor area a bit trying to find some soft ice cream, which we failed at, and then headed up to the upper lake to take a look at the Civil War Encampment. They had a Mountain Howitzer cannon and a very small encampment. They re-enacted a small battle across the upper lake with rifles and fired the cannon a few times. Then we walked over to the Westmoreland County Vietnam Veterans Memorial. After that, we left and ate dinner at Red Lobster and headed our separate ways.

A year ago, we spent the holiday at the hospital after my dad's surgery. It was good to be able to walk around the park with him and have dinner this year.

I think we'll just enjoy the Monroeville fireworks from our back porch tonight.

Tomorrow, I expect to be getting the rest of the supplies for fixing up the side porch by borrowing a friends SUV and taking care of stuff around the house.
