This is the whole shawl that I started in February of this year:

The pattern is Threes Triangular Shawl by a friend of mine, Beth.
The white strands in the shawl are called lifelines. If they are a contigency plan in case one messes up. I know that my pattern is good up to this point. I put the lifeline in so that I can safely pull out any stitches after this point, if needed. I put one in after I start a skein of yarn and get to the end of a pattern repeat. This is so I know where to start the next row if I need to pull stitches back out. The second lifeline is the one I put in after starting the second skein of yarn. The next lifeline I will put into the stitches on the needles as I just started the fourth skein. So that shows about how much I got done over last weekends drive to Vermontville, NY.

Close-up of second lifeline and the latest full skein of stitches on the project.
