adelheid_pThe Ice Demoness has retreated to the coldest spot in Pennsylvania! Well, it's really to visit my daughter. She's sleeping right now but I'm awake as I'm usually up much earlier. I checked e-mail and my LJ comments and it appears that someone, who wishes to remain anonymous, thought I was complaining about the snow. Nope, not one bit. In fact, if I had snow shoes, I'd be out hiking around the Allegheny National Forest right now. But I didn't think I could justify an investment in them as few opportunities that I'd have to use them. I also took some pictures of icicles on campus. They may be turned into LJ icons at some point. I think that this stuff is beautiful and to see the sun reflecting through all the ice covered trees when I drove into work Thursday morning was a treat! I just don't enjoy driving in dangerous conditions!
Last night we ate at a place in Limestone, NY called Raffael's. It was a cute little Italian restaurant which is decorated with pictures of the Rat Pack, posters from the Godfather and the Soprano's and there is a dummy dressed up as a mobster from the 1930's. Also, there is a lot of Elvis memorabilia. I'm not sure what the connection is there. Anyway, I had a fried Icelandic Haddock with a side of Garlic Spaghetti (which was really linguini) and my daughter had her usual Eggplant Parmesan which came with spaghetti and meatballs with tomato sauce. The fish was batter fried and very good. The spaghetti was all pre-cooked per the owner and so it wasn't al dente, but it wasn't starchy either. Tonight we're going to eat at the Seneca-Allegheny Casino buffet. There really isn't much to do up here, but there are a few brochures at the Mountain Laurel Inn bed and breakfast where I am staying. I'll take a look and see if anything interests me.
