Last day in Las Vegas
Nov. 11th, 2006 01:13 amI fly back tomorrow. I got sick yesterday. Of all the medicines I brought, I didn't bring anything for stomach/intestinal stuff so I had to walk over to the Walgreens. In Las Vegas this means quite a bit of walking, although I discovered, on the way back, that I could catch a tram from the Excalibur to Mandalay Bay and that cut my walking down. Tonight, I trammed over to the Excalibur, walked across walkways to the MGM Grand, walked through the MGM Grand to the monorail ($5.00 one way ticket, $9 for two way and $11 in dollar coins in change later) and rode the monorail to the Las Vegas Hilton to see the Star Trek Experience. Really, I went there to shop because the other stuff (rides/simulations?) cost more money. I resisted the urge to by my husband the "Kiss the Klingon" Targ-ecue apron and the bobble-headed Klingon. I would've gotten him a cloaked Klingon Bird of Prey but they were all broken (Yeah, you could actually see it! Well, it was translucent plastic shaped like a Klingon BoP, and bits were broken off of all of the ones they had in the rack.) I won't say what I did buy because he could be reading this. 8-P Some of the other stops on the monorail did not seem realistic or would have involved alot of walking. I wandered around the tourist shops on the Vegas strip after that and bought a couple of less expensive souvenirs. Friday night is when things start to get going around here. One thing I did notice was that all the outdoor escalators and elevators were relatively clean. This from a town that hasn't outlawed smoking and apparently has no laws banning open containers of alcohol. In Pittsburgh, there is a good chance of some unpleasant smells in these areas. Oh well, I have a long day of travel ahead of me tomorrow.
