Earth Hour is a movement to make a statement about climate change by turning off your lights and all unnecessary electrical appliances for one hour on Saturday, March 29th from 8 pm to 9 pm. See:

Just a curiosity question: Do you believe in human generated global warming? I really think it's because of the sun's activity myself.

I do like the idea of not using as much power as we do, but why just an hour? Why not two?

I believe emissions that are generated by human created machines have some impact on the environment. I'm not sure about the extent of the impact, though.

As for one hour and not two, I think that the people who came up with the idea had no idea what amount of time would be good and just hoped to get people thinking about it.
