Confluence report
Aug. 1st, 2008 10:27 pmAfter my first experience helping out with Anthrocon's Art Show this year, working Confluence's Art Show was somewhat of a welcome respite. I think that this Confluence was one that went more smoothly than previous years, at least from my point of view. We had some great art demos and I came away with a revived skirt thanks to stencils and paints at Susan Dexter's demonstration. I saw other people walk out with smiles and little Fimo clay items thanks to a demonstration by Barb Carlson --her first time at our art show. And, not to be out done,
mewsgryphoncat had her own cadre of satisfied amber carvers from her demonstration. I had a role in the play, "Come Back, Dr. Sarcophagus" and I was really pleased that the author liked our presentation of his work. When we read this script a few months ago, the story really captured my affection. One of the highlights of my con was attending the Dorsai party. I have to confess that this reminded me of times during my teen years of treasured late evenings spent with my father and his guitar singing songs older than I am --from the early 1960's, 1950's and even some from the World War II era. I'm going to hastily add that none of the Dorsai present were old enough to be my father nor did I transfer that role in my mind to any nor were the songs that old either but some I hadn't heard in a number of years. In other words, it was a comfortable relaxed atmosphere sharing songs together. Many thanks to
amg04 for her runs to get us much needed sustenance in the art show. I'm already looking forward to next year.
