Right By Nature mini review
Aug. 23rd, 2009 02:59 pmSince the CEO of Whole Foods has come out against what the current administration is doing concerning health care, I decided to check out Right by Nature as an alternative to shopping at Whole Foods and therefore giving the CEO more money. I am already familiar with the East End Food Co-op and will probably become a member in support of it, but I'm also often in the Strip District so Right by Nature will also be convenient. It's a bit roomier than the co-op and seems to offer more choices in many areas including produce, refrigerated and frozen items. Both are locally owned and both support local farmers so I figure I won't lose if I shop at both and give Whole Foods a pass. In addition, there is also a farmers market held on Saturdays in the Strip before noon. So, in all, I can do without Whole Foods and not support Mr. Mackey's agenda.

(now I'll stop spamming Heidi's journal)

Date: 2009-08-24 12:40 am (UTC)That said, it is very expensive to eat healthy, and even locally and organically. In college, I had friends who told me they were vegetarian because they couldn't afford meat. I thought they were crazy, being familiar with how much it costs to buy fresh veggies. Then I realized they were living on spaghetti and sauce and nothing else. Ick.
Now a days, I'm biting the bullet and doing my best to feed my family healthy foods, and I'm lucky to be able to afford it.
People criticizing others when they can't afford healthcare and also can't afford to eat well make me crazy. Especially coming from a store I've been affectionately calling "Whole Paycheck" for years.
