Chicken Tikka Masala recipe review
Oct. 18th, 2008 09:37 pmThursday night in the Bomb Shelter Radio chat room the subject of chicken recipes came up and I mentioned Chicken Tikka Masala. Some one asked what that was and I pointed them to this recipe. Well tonight, I decided to make this recipe. Here is my critique. I had to make a couple of modifications due to what I had on hand. I did not have jalapeƱo pepper or cilantro and did not substitute anything for these items. Second, I substituted fat-free evaporated milk for heavy cream. Third, I cut the salt in recipe by half and used no salt tomato sauce. In addition, I used the indoor non-stick electric grill (like a George Foreman but a different brand) to grill the chicken. On the whole, I don't think these modifications hurt the recipe. The recipe calls for way too much salt per the comments and many who have followed the recipe omitted the salt entirely. The next time I make this recipe I may cut down the black pepper as it was rather spicy for me.
dergeis seemed to like it which is a plus as he's previously disavowed Indian food as he doesn't like "curry". Since this didn't use curry powder, I felt safe in making it. I would also make more of the sauce as advised in the comments.
