Where I was all weekend
Nov. 16th, 2008 10:20 pmOn Saturday, I took Amtrak to New York's Pennsylvania Station. I got in about 5 pm and wandered around. Ate a light dinner and went off to see Moonlight and Love Songs which was written by my friend Scott C. Sickles. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see
oxymoron67, but I did talk to him on the phone! Afterward, we had dinner at a nice little bar next door and got caught up. Then Scott bundled me into a cab to the Central Park Hostel. Which was clean and nice enough to sleep in and a bargain at $30. I slept in a 10 bed dorm which had slightly smaller than twin bunk beds with one shared bathroom down the hall. The bathroom had one toilet, one sink and two showers. This bathroom was also shared with at least one 4 bed dorm. Luckily, there weren't many people staying in the dorm rooms (only 3 others in mine). I got up this morning, washed up, checked out, and walked a few blocks by Central Park and then took the subway to Penn Station. Actually, there was a subway access stair about a block from the hostel but I didn't want to spend my entire morning underground. I bought a very good, freshly made veggie and egg white sandwich on wheat bread at a cafe in Pennsylvania station and a diet iced tea. It was so hot that I couldn't carry it and had to place the bag in my tote bag. I consumed it on the train back. The train got into Pittsburgh's Amtrak Station at 7:30 pm.
