RIP David Alway

A really nice guy and a regular at Confluence. I think that fandom is diminished for the loss.

I was relaying the news to the Klingon and showed him a picture that someone had posted of Dave because the Klingon doesn't remember names but I know he'd remember as soon as he saw the picture. While doing this I remembered that one of my most cherished encounters with Dave was when he was sitting in the Confluence Consuite reading out loud from a book of verses called The Space Child's Mother Goose by Frederick Winsor. I can almost hear his voice now as I page through my own copy. I went out and bought it, probably as soon as I could get online to Amazon.com after that conference and I got a copy for my nephew. Anyway, here's one of the verses:

Little Miss Muffet
Sits on her tuffet
In a nonchalant sort of way.
With her force field around her
The spider, the bounder,
Is not in the picture today.

Yeah, I'll miss Dave's presence greatly.

I will always remember him. he would always say hi to me at other conventionsnot just Confluence...he remembered me! That was just so sweet! I think Beths idea is a good one.

You're quite welcome. I'm sure that Dave touched more people than have even posted memorials at this point. It will really start hitting people when they attend the cons that he attended and miss him. Being somewhat close to my brother (he moved away three years ago), I can only imagine what you and your brother Bob are going through. You both have my deepest sympathies.
