We're havin' a heat wave!
Feb. 7th, 2007 10:50 amIt's 9 degrees F here in the Steel City. (I wonder if Pittsburgh will get a new name now that most of the steel mills are closed, demolished and sprouting new development?)
It's supposed to get up to 17 degrees F today. Wind chill is still a factor but not as much of one. The following hit the local news because the intended target was a local woman. Astronaut Lisa Nowak accused of attempted murder. Nowak is accused of attacking and trying to kill her romantic rival. "Police said Nowak drove 900 miles from her home in Houston to the Orlando airport wearing diapers so she didn't have to stop and use the bathroom." 900 miles? That's alot of time to think about it. Wow, I'm pretty sure I couldn't stand to be in a car that long without getting out to walk around, but I guess if you're in the shuttle for days at a time, you get used to being in small spaces for long periods of time.
EDIT: Home 5:20 pm
I get out of the car and hear the sound of rushing water emanating from my garage. I rush inside and see a waterfall cascading from the ceiling of the garage. I rush upstairs and look for a problem in the bathroom above. No water there. I rush back down into the garage and determine that it's the pipe to the outside water spigot on the side of the house. I look and find the valve --it's too high! I need a ladder! I rush upstairs and get my handy step stool (because most of the Western world is taller than I am) and hurry back into the garage, move the bikes out of the way and turn the valve and stop the water! YAY Me! Well, the water went into the garage and mostly down the drain and just wet a couple of bikes. (Mine and my daughter's). I now have a shorter lifespan due to the adrenaline that ran through my veins though. I was literally shaking when I went to turn off the garage light after that.
