Bradford Visit redux
Feb. 21st, 2007 07:28 pmWell, I was supposed to attend my daughter's chemistry lab with her on Saturday but it was canceled due to a serious roof leak into the chemical storage closet. So she went back to bed and I went back to the Mountain Laurel Inn to do a little work and waste time on my laptop. When she finally got up and went to brunch it was around 12:30 pm so I joined her. The university was having some problems with Internet connectivity and power which prevented the cafeteria from washing dishes so there were styrofoam plates and plastic utensils in use. I had a salad and some pizza and some frozen fruit for dessert. Then we went back to her dorm and she took a shower and we went shopping. For Saturday dinner we ate at the Seneca Allegheny Casino Thunder Mountain Buffet which was pretty good. The Seneca nation is developing the property and adding a hotel. In the process they moved the casino and entrance and we had to be escorted through the casino to the buffet because my daughter isn't old enough to be in the casino (she's two month's shy of 21). Anyway, there were a lot of people waiting to get in and we had to make a reservation which means pay for it an hour in advance. The weather wasn't great and the roads were a little slippery but we made it back and I went back to my room and watched tv since I'd finished the book I'd brought (Going Postal by Terry Pratchett). Speaking of books, I listened to Neil Gaiman's Fragile Things on cd read by him on the drive up to Bradford and back to Pittsburgh and it's very good but I really want to buy the book because I find that I tend to re-read bits and miss bits of the story when listening to it. The first cd is almost entirely the forward of the book which I sometimes don't read but which was very interesting so I'll be reading his forwards in the future. On Sunday, April joined me for breakfast which was a treat. I drove back and stopped at the Prime Outlets at Grove City and did a little shopping. I managed to avoid all the snow that happened in Pittsburgh and got home at about 3:30 pm.
