Poor little hamster

amg04 came home with another hamster. Yes, she already has a female hamster. This one is a male hamster probably of the Teddy Bear variety due to his long golden and white hair. (They have been and continue to be in separate cages. There will be no hamster breeding in this house!) It turns out that someone attempted to return him to the pet store where she works --a year after purchase! Fortunately, the manager was good hearted and took him. One of the other employees was going to adopt him but someone in her family was very upset at the prospect so amg04 brought him home knowing that I could post him and the cage, food, and bedding on the local Freecycle lists. I did and I've gotten several responses of interest and I'm waiting for the first choice to make arrangements to pick the hamster up. While I'm waiting, I've discovered that he's accustomed to being handled and seems to like it. Today I gave him a couple of raisins. The first one he ate and the second one he pouched. Because I gave him two raisins, I let him out in the exercise ball that amg04 has for her hamster for a while. He roamed around the first floor happily exploring for about twenty minutes. When I put him back into the cage I gave him half a baby carrot. He pouched that and then scooted into a corner and started munching on it. Whoever gets this little guy will be very happy, I hope.
