Lair of the Ice Demoness

I was introduced to Anne McCaffrey's books when Ann Cecil (who passed away earlier this year) took my daughter to a Fort Weyr gathering in Raccoon State Park located close to Pittsburgh, PA. Fort Weyr is a group of people who create characters and write stories based in Pern, the world from the Dragonriders of Pern series that Anne McCaffrey wrote. I went with my daughter the next year and it was a blast and I have since become good friends with several people from that group. So there is much I owe to Anne McCaffrey besides just enjoying or being touched by her stories. Several of my friendships wouldn't have arisen without her writings. A whole half of my daughter's life lived with the friendships that she forged with people from those gatherings. They are a part of our community. Thank you Anne, farewell and clear skies!
