Gearing up for the season
Nov. 23rd, 2008 08:03 pmWell, yesterday we put the electric blanket on the bed. We've had high temperatures in the low 30s with lows in the 20s and I've noticed that most of the mums that people planted in their yards are dead from the below freezing temperatures. It's going to make this winter seem longer since the mums usually provide some color into December.
In preparation for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, I've been doing laundry and cleaning the kitchen. (Well, I do laundry on a regular basis so it's just a coincidence that I'm doing it this weekend.) Today I cleaned out the dreaded vegetable crisper and hauled stuff up to the compost bin. In addition, I made two pumpkin pies in preparation for Thursday's dinner. There was enough of the custard left to make two custard cups full. So I'll be taste testing my spice mix. I used pumpkin pie spice mix and added ground cloves since that wasn't one of the spices in the mix.
I still have way too much stuff to do. Oh well, off to clean off the dining room table.
