adelheid_p | Long overdue update

I just noticed that my last non-meme post was almost two weeks ago. Since then I've caught up a bit on some stuff --cleaning, laundry, etc. and finished reading Jingo by Terry Pratchett which was due back at the library today. I guess that explains, to some extent, my tardiness in posting anything of substance here. In the coming few weeks I'm going to study for a Amateur Radio Technicians license. The Klingon already has one and has gotten a new handy talkie to take with him on his hiking and/or biking trips so I figure I should have one so I can actually talk to him while he's on his trips, if needed. Some of the trail that he rides is actually out of cell phone reach but might not be out of ham radio reach (depending on where the repeaters are placed). The exam is 35 questions concerning FCC regulations, radio waves, some electronics, etc. I've probably learned and forgotten most of the basic science and electronics needed for the exam so that part will just be brushing up. I'm sure learning about the FCC regulations will be much like learning about the driving laws so it doesn't seem like it will be difficult, just a lot of memorization. I've gotten a book from the library with the information needed and a large assortment of sample test questions. My plan is to take the test in March. So, I may not be posting much of substance in the next few weeks.
