Owwies!

Yesterday, I slipped and fell in the work cafeteria near the salad bar. The tile around the salad bar was wet and it's particularly smooth. My right foot slid forward and I went mostly straight down with my left knee kind of bending and going outward and my right leg going straight the other way. I yelled OW! really loudly. I made sure my left knee was okay (I've injured it before) then I move over to the carpet to get up. Surprisingly, my left knee is not bothering me as much as the back of my right upper thigh/buttocks area. I did file a report in case I need further medical attention. I suspect I pulled a muscle back there or worse. Compounding things was the fact that I had to work late and didn't get home until around 10 pm so I wasn't able to ice it until then (sat on the ice pack when I got home). I have today and tomorrow off (the perks of working at a Catholic university). But I'm going in tomorrow to perform server maintenance (the downside of working in IT). I slept in today and I plan to go shopping. The injuries seem to be a little better but I still require some ibuprofen to function with reasonable tolerance.

Ouch. I hate it when I fall because I almost always sprain something.

Aw, crud.... That sucks.

Take a hot bath tonight to loosen up your muscles (cold for the first 24 hours, and heat for the next 24), and I hope you feel better soon.

I'd take a bath except I'm pretty sure that getting into and out of the tub will hurt (it hurts to bend down to pick something up much less squatting) and would probably negate the relaxing effect of the bath.

My Sensei recommends a mix of hot and cold the day after a sports injury. Do you have a heating pad?

Oh, yes, and OWWWWWW! Get better soon!

No, the heating pads that I had I gave to a friend with elderly cats since I wasn't using them at the time. I have been taking hot showers, though. And, I have an electric blanket. So, it's getting better, although slowly (okay, I'm impatient). Bending to tie shoes and pick up things from the floor is still painful as is walking up stairs. I can walk downstairs without discomfort, though. I guess its all downhill for me. LOL!

Downhill, both ways?

In any event, get well quick. Glad this didn't happen before the Con, since that would have been no fun at all.
