I'm in D.C. for a class for work. The Klingon came with me to bike some trails here --Rock Creek and Mount Vernon while I spend my days in class. He bikes The Great Allegheny Passage once a year from Pittsburgh to Washington, D.C. but he hasn't had a chance before this to bike these trails. We arrived later Wednesday night after stopping off at my sister-in-law's to visit briefly. My nieces are starting into the pre-teen years and showing it. They will be quite tall. After we were safely behind D.C. rush hour, we arrived at our hotel and unloaded our stuff including the Klingon's bike into the hotel room. Then we went off in search of a later dinner and ate at a small Indian/Pakistan place called the House of Kabob which was relatively inexpensive and tasty --although everything I had was on the spicy side which I didn't mind. Last night, after class/biking, we met up with [livejournal.com profile] fuzzface00 and he showed us some of the not as well known sites around Washington, D. C. including the United States Navy Memorial and many other little places that are rather numerous to mention. We ate dinner at the Capitol City Brewery in downtown D.C. and then walked up to Dupont Circle. I was thoroughly worn out when I returned to my hotel room. (Thanks for the hospitality, [livejournal.com profile] fuzzface00!) Not to mention that I've been battling a cold all week long. Learning that Dupont Circle was so close, The Klingon and I went back, especially because there was a bead store there that was closed by the time we went by it last night. So, of course, tonight I spent money in there today. And I'd like to come back here sometime in the next year or so. We ate dinner at a little place called Zorbas Cafe. It was relatively low priced, decent Greek food. The Klingon humored me and we walked a round Dupont Circle a bit more before heading back to the hotel room. Tomorrow we plan to visit Mount Vernon and then return to Pittsburgh. Perhaps [livejournal.com profile] fuzzface00 will join us.
